Brownsville Ascend Lower School opened in 2009. The school enrolls 586 students in grades K through 4, in the majestically renovated historic Pitkin Theater, located in CSD 23.
Billie Quigley
Principal

Principal Billie Quigley takes the helm at Brownsville Ascend Lower School after serving there as resident director and dean of instruction. Quigley began at Brownsville Ascend Lower in 2011 as an English language arts teacher for grades 3 and 4, producing some of the highest scores in the network, and transitioned into the role of ELA coach before becoming a dean of instruction. In that role, she supported and coached teachers in grades 4 and 5, used data to guide instruction, and worked to push scholars to the highest level of academic achievement. Previously, Quigley taught fourth grade at a public elementary school in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where she distinguished herself as Teacher of the Year among many honors. She holds a bachelor’s of science in elementary education and a master’s in education from William Carey University in Hattiesburg.
