Cypress Hills Ascend Middle School has opened in its brand-new location at 2840 Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn for junior high students from the Cypress Hills neighborhood in grades five through seven. The school will expand to enroll students in grade eight for the 2025-26 school year. In addition to our core curriculum, the school offers dance, computer science and physical education. Students also have leadership opportunities through student government representatives by grade.

Ascend has not only outperformed local community school districts in ELA and Math but has also excelled across New York City and New York State!
We are dedicated to maintaining the tight-knit, responsive community of teachers, families and students Cypress Hills Middle School has created.
We strive to embody our values of diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism in staffing, curriculum, and policies/practices.
We are proud to operate safe, clean and bright facilities that show respect for our middle school students and teachers.
From the Principal's Desk:
"At Cypress Hills, we believe that 'the world is your playground,' and we want our students to know they can achieve whatever they want. We make sure they understand that they have the tools to achieve their goals and that we are all committed to creating a space where excellence is fueled by love.
Our school is built on the idea that it’s important to truly mirror what our students care about, helping them to connect with their culture and community while also challenging them to grow. We do this successfully by remaining aligned on the most important values and deeply caring for one another.
We strive to make sure that every student feels secure and confident— we want each student to fully believe that there is a clear pathway for them to be excellent and proficient. Through our inclusive approach, we empower students to know that this is their school. We are here for them. Together, we reflect, grow, and move forward, knowing that we can only achieve our goals when all of us are involved."
