On Tuesday, May 5, Canarsie Ascend Middle School (CAMS) hosted two exciting Middle School Basketball League matchups, bringing together players, cheerleaders, families, and staff for an evening full of energy, school pride, and community support.
This week's matchup between Flatbush Ascend Middle School (FAMS) and Canarsie Ascend Middle School (CAMS) ended with a hard-fought 24-19 victory for CAMS. The teams, led by Coach Christopher McKie (FAMS) and Coach Gordon Torrington (CAMS), both showcased strong defensive play, teamwork, and determination.
After that game concluded, Central Brooklyn Ascend Middle School (CBAMS) faced off against Achievement First Endeavor in another competitive matchup. Despite a strong effort from CBAMS, Achievement First Endeavor secured a 30-25 win.
CBAMS is coached by Travis James and Alonzo Holcombe, while Achievement First Endeavor is led by Coach Rasaad Thompson.
In addition to the action on the court, the CAMS cheerleaders brought incredible energy throughout the evening. Their performances kept the crowd engaged and added to the exciting atmosphere inside the gym.
From warmups to the final buzzer, the night reflected the power of athletics to bring the Ascend community together through teamwork, leadership, and pride.
