Continuing to Grow in 2024

Happy New Year! As we close the door on 2023, we are turning our sights on 2024 with optimism. This past year was one of great transformation for Ascend as we implemented a new leadership structure, launched our first-ever Advancement Team, and implemented new math and literacy curriculums K-12 across our 17 schools in service of our commitment to providing a quality education for our children and families now, and for years to come.

Reflecting on the past few months we are proud and grateful to already see positive momentum across our organization that we are hoping to continue in 2024.

Strengthening Our Family Relationships

We're excited to share that we've maintained a steady course, achieving 98% of our enrollment goal – a significant stride from 95% last year and a testament to the relationships our team has formed with our communities. We have also seen our Family Engagement team lead efforts to increase family communication and school involvement leading to a 32% reduction in student attrition.

Creating a Culture of Educators

Staff retention has increased by 20%, reaching an 88% retention rate across our network. We are incredibly grateful for our incredible team of educators who have embraced new teaching practices and continue to push their practice to provide the best education possible for our scholars.

Building for the Future

The launch of our 5-year development campaign has been met with incredible support, with 50% already committed or donated towards our Year 1 goal. We have also welcomed four new Board Trustees who will provide valued leadership and support as we continue to scale. We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who has contributed to our future and look forward to continuing these partnerships in 2024.

We know the work is as expansive and complex as it is important and we can never predict what 2024 or any year may hold. However, we know that no matter what obstacles may come we are beginning the new year committed to building on this momentum, fostering even stronger connections, and continuing to grow Ascend’s impact in service of building a more just and equitable future.
